The real author of The Present

I have heard a rumor through the internet saying:

"L Ron Hubbard wrote something in the 1970s that was not to be released until December 21, 2012 (when the planets are in alignment) because the world would not be ready for what it contains until then. What it says is supposed to change everything. It is called The Present, and you can read it here for free: www.truthcontest.com. It makes a lot of sense, and is supposed to replace the theology of Xenu that was science fiction intended to help the organization of Scientology look more like a church and help with the tax-exempt status from the IRS. "The Present" is the real truth, the hidden theological foundation."

I've always wondered who the real author of "The Present" is. It says it is Michael Smith, but that just sounds like a pen name to me.

Go Green

We need to follow natures example and not waste what we are given. Nature never wastes anything; it naturally recycles and reuses everything. There is a balance to all functions of the earth, and the earth naturally regulates itself. We have to find ways to use modern technology in perfect harmony with the natural balance. I was reading the other day that new technology can channel the energy from our heartbeat and recharge small items such as cell phone batteries. new technology could just find ways to channel natural energy like veins channel the blood in our bodies. I wonder if someday the energy that we are putting into using a machine would actually power the machine itself.
Using more than you need means that you are out of balance. The greater your wants, the more you will feel like you need, and it will build on itself. If you want a new TV, you will feel you also want a DVD player, speakers, more channels etc. You will become more and more distracted and you will never be able to turn your mind off, or concentrate on spiritual life. We spend to much time and energy feeding our minds with different technological devices, because we are uninterested in the present moment. We want to escape the thoughts we are having by immersing ourselves into fantasies, which sadly is the opposite way of escaping thoughts. Set aside a time during the day when you are not using any technology. Light a few candles and just be. Be fulfilled by the present moment.

Self-reliance

You should never believe anything, especially what other people tell you. No one knows better than you, because no one is able to check what is true for you except yourself. That is why it is silly to follow a guru or a religion. In fact I think the test of a good spiritual teacher is if they tell you not to believe what they say, but discern if it is true for yourself. We are all just human beings, so you have the same capabilities as anyone else, no one is more special. You have eyes, ears, nose, and a mind to discern the truth as well as anyone else; there is no difference between you and Jesus Christ or Buddha, except that they have already used those tools to find the truth for themselves. Now it if your turn.
People are always looking for miracles in spirituality, thinking that one is holy when they are able to perform supernatural feats. But isn't it miraculous enough that we have a body that is sustained every second by the most complex, intricate systems? In which nerve impulses to and from the brain travel up to 170 miles an hour, in which our brains hold 5 times more information than the biggest encyclopedias, and in which there is constant renewal and rejuvenation. Our bodies are entire universes unto themselves, and they hold a consciousness that is conscious of consciousness itself, and how the universe works. It is incredible. Whenever we distract ourselves from the incredible reality that we live in, we are just dying a little more.
People ask "what would Jesus do?". Well what would you do, and why? Will you use your consciousness and your miraculous body to enlighten yourself to the truth? It is all up to you. No one can help.

Perpetual Rest

Jesus said, "I am the door; the person who enters by me will find Eternal bliss. I am the bed; the person who lies on me will enter perpetual rest. I am the Light; the person who sees by me will view all things."
Jesus christ was reborn into spirit, no longer a servant to the devil/mind. He was truth personified. The Truth is "the way", and there is no other way. People take that to mean that Jesus/christianity is the only way, but anyone who also knows the truth is "the way".
In the quote above Jesus says that he is the bed that will give us perpetual rest. That is a particularly beautiful quote. I do not think people realize to what extent they are not at rest. Everyday people are in a conscious or unconscious battle with themselves. The mind makes you feel like you are not good enough, ugly, stupid, etc. This creates negative emotions within you that are very powerful and very believable. The ego creates very strong illusions, and emotions are very convincing. We are only happy when thing work out the way that we want them to, in order to satisfy our desires. Therefore there is a constant internal struggle that only makes the knot stronger. Then there is anxiety about our futures, our pasts and of course death. There is so much anxiety and uncertainty in life. Just thinking about all the times you have worried is exhausting. A huge amount of our energy is spent on suffering.
Jesus was offering us the Truth, the bed of perpetual rest. But we have gotten so accustomed to carrying our burdens it is as if we are addicted to our suffering, and it feels like home. We do not know anything else, so we are afraid to step out of our suffering. The mind being in control is an incredible burden, and an endless one if you do not lay it down. It is such a burden that it makes you think that laying it down would create even more of a burden, but it is not so.
A good way to start laying your burden down, is by just witnessing all of your thoughts/emotions objectively. Just watch what happens and don't feed them.
